Hello, welcome to www.mattbrewbaker.homestead.com, a website about my friends, my family and myself.  Here, you can look through a peephole into my life, learn what I'm all about, peruse through my pictures, and agree or disagree with my opinions and thoughts. Sit back, relax, and enjoy as you read what it's like for me to be a student at the University of California, Davis.

About Me
It's always hard to cram myself into a nutshell.  Life, in general is so dauntingly complex that to compact it to a few sentences would be a horrible injustice.  Have you ever been in that situation where you meet someone at a party, through a friend, or at a meeting and the conversation goes like this:
Them:  Hi.
You:  Hi
Them:  You new here?
You:  Nah, I come every once in a while, but I don't come too often.
Them:  Oh yeah?  School/(work) getting in your way?
You: Yup.
Them:  What's your major?/(What do you do?)
You:  (your life in 5 words or less)
Them:  Cool.  (Their life in 5 words or less)
This is where you each go your separate ways.

HORRIBLE!!!  How can anybody hope to achieve anything from such blatant lack of personalization.  I remember several accounts when I actually tried giving a good overview of who I am... but to no avail.  After a while I just gave up.  Perhaps this is one of many reasons I am glad I have a website.  I can write anything from what is going on in my life, to my past experiences, to my opinions and thoughts.  But I also keep this website as an update for myself (a form of self-reflection), and for those around me.  After all.... the "Me-as-we-know-it" changes all of the time.  I've found that this particularly makes a website a bit hard to manage.  It's a bit like running a newspaper- "EXTRA EXTRA read all about it!"  I guess this website is most like an experiment, one that would test whether you can squeeze in all that information, still leave me some privacy, yet deliver my life in a rather LARGE nutshell.  I update every once in a while so that the current "Me" is the one you are reading about, but I also document my past entries so that you (and I) can compare past and present.  Why do I do this website?  Do I have a big head and think my life is worth reading about?  Probably... but it's more of a journal, one that I can look back on when I'm older, and one that allows others to as well.  I truly consider my life an open book.  So I might as well leave it out for everyone to read.  I hope you enjoy it.  And hopefully, one day when I'm old and I stop updating this website due to no longer being able to speak to my voice-controlled ubiquitous computer console... I'll be glad I kept it, and will ask my great grand-daughter to give it a good ending... how 'bout:
"And Matt lived happily ever after..."
But that's a long ways away!!  Keep checking up on me until then.
Later!

-Matt
